Personal Statement:
I learned to fly in my 20s, but quit for 18 years due to the financial pressure of raising a family. At 60, I still have less than 200 hours on my logbook. However, I am excited to report that I am a few months away from completing construction of my first airplane, a Van’s RV-9A. I always loved flying, and missed it during the time when I couldn’t. Now the thrill of flying is back in my life.

During our retirement, I hope that flying will enable my wife and me to indulge in our love for travel throughout this beautiful state and this great country. A couple years ago I dreamed of a retirement business on our own private airport in a small Maine town. In this business I would be a bush pilot / Maine Guide and my wife would run a Bed & Breakfast. I also wanted to live near my daughter and her husband in Eastern Maine. Through research the dream evolved into a private runway near a new home and then into a residential airpark.

I learned that there are lots of airparks in other parts of the country, but Maine has only two, and they are both in heavily developed York County. Our group began looking for sites for the development of new airparks. After an unsuccessful yearlong pursuit of a former air base at Winterport, we discovered an airfield ideally suited to become our first airpark, this largely undeveloped private airport features a well drained 3,200' X 100’ turf runway surrounded by pines and hardwoods. This property has enough room for 20-30 houselots with direct runway access. This location would make an excellent little community for airplane enthusiasts.

Maine AirParks first began as a dream. With continued perseverance this dream can mature into a business and potentially several residential developments. We are not financially able to do this project alone, so we have approached pilot / investors with experience in real estate development. They are very much interested in the project, but with the recent real-estate slump, want to be sure there is enough demand.

That’s why we're conducting a survey, to demonstrate the interest and demand for a residential airpark on the beautiful Maine coast.

Please take a few minutes and complete this short survey. For more information on our airpark initiative, feel free to contact me at the number below.
