Role in Maine Airparks:

AirParks project.
Personal Statement:
The excitement of travel has always been an important part of my life. My
parents provided my brother and me with amazing traveling experiences. Almost
every summer our family loaded up the RV (that's six wheels on the ground type
RV), and ventured our way cross-country. In particular, I have been most
fortunate to be able to camp, motorcycle, and boat all over Maine.
Although my parents did not fly while we were growing up; my father always
talked about his love for flying. Until recently it had not been a mode of
travel I often experienced. However, in 1997 my brother decided to get his
pilots license and my father renewed his biennial to become current shortly
thereafter. Since then I have been up in the air with my brother and several
times with my father. It is amazing to fly over familiar sights; they look so
different and multidimensional from the air. Growing up in Maine my whole life
might create some bias, but in my opinion Maine is one of the most beautiful
states in the country.
On April 1st,
2007 my husband took his maiden voyage in the air with my father in the pilot
seat. I think Shawn was a little nervous but he has faith in my father's
abilities. Our flight could not have been on a better day. The sky was beautiful
and the weather was perfect. We had a great time taking photos of the Bar
Harbor, Mt. Desert Island, and Acadia National Park areas. I have
always enjoyed the view from the ground, however nothing compares to the breath
taking sights of the Maine coast from an airplane.
Shawn and I
very much enjoy traveling to various fishing spots. For the time being neither
of us are pilots. However, I am sure through the years my father might convince
one or both of us to get our license. After all, unless my father decides to
build a floatplane he might be too busy with his RV-9A to drop us off at the
secluded trout ponds.
It has been wonderful watching my husband and father work as a team, motivating
each other in the process of making this project possible, as they have
collaborated great ideas together. I love seeing the passion my father has for
the Maine Airpark initiative. Pressing through previous setbacks and roadblocks,
it is an inspiration how he maintains vision for this dream.
I feel fortunate to be a part of this project. My family is extremely excited
about creating airparks in Maine. Please enjoy looking through our site; we hope you
too, will decide to live the Maine airpark dream.
"Travel of any kind is exciting, but with the destination of an Airpark in
Maine, the opportunities are endless".
